Soil samples can be analyzed for nutrient levels and pH for both agronomic and horticultural crops through the OSU Extension, Morgan County Office. Our soil test program is based on the resources provided by the Penn State Agricultural Analytical Services Lab, University Park, Pennsylvania. As a part of our service, we provide assistance interpreting results of your soil test.
Steps to Follow:
1. Collect Sample(s)
2. Submit sample with kit from the Extension Office or use a self-prepared kit.
Purchase Kits at the Extension Office:
Soil test kits can be purchased at the Morgan County Office in McConnelsville, OH, for $9 (cash or check). These kits include a mailer, submission forms, and sample bag. Please call ahead to confirm an appointment so we can be sure staff are available to meet your needs.
Additional Options (self-prepared kit):
If our office is closed or you are unable to get to our location, you may still collect a sample and submit the necessary submission forms with your own bag and mailer. Payment must then be sent with your sample to the laboratory. Access forms directly from the Penn State Soil Analytic Lab website: Soil Fertility Testing — Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences (psu.edu). If you wish for assistance in interpreting your soil test results, be sure to include OSU Extension Morgan County, 155 E Main Street, McConnelsville, OH 43756, at the top right of the fillable form.
3. Interpret Results.
If you have questions about your sample results, you may contact the Morgan County Extension Office at email@example.com or 740-962-4854.
